List of USA Mygalomorphs (-theraphosidae)
Myself and SCABIES are working on keeping a list of what mygalomorph spiders can be found in which of the 50 states (plus the District of Columbia). We have finished a sort of version 1.0 of the list.
As of right now (June 14, 2009) mygalomorphs can be found or have somehow been reported in all but 7 states:
DE, IA, ME, ND, NH, VT, and WY
It is possible that there are mygs in at least some of these states, but no easily googleable records have been found so far.
To see a list of the states you can go to this index page: http://scabies.myfreeforum.org/about3763.html
To see the data in a tabular format, including species, genus, and family counts for all the states go cacoseraph's webpage: http://cacoseraph.exofire.net/ntmygs/ntmygs_usa.php
(my website seems to go down a distressing amount... i might be forced to relocate... that link really does work at least some of the time)
I hope people find this interesting or useful. I hope this possibly stimulates some interest in people's respective local mygalomorphs. SCABIES will continue to update this list as we come into more information. SCABIES is also working on a collection of "reports" for all the native species of ntmygs found in the United States which can be found here: http://scabies.myfreeforum.org/forum49.php
SCABIES has other projects in various stages of planning and execution including a picture ID guide and key to ntmygs, so keep on checking back with us to see what we have been up to!
